London - The Euro-Med Monitor for Human Rights participated in the World Conference of Women Leaders at the University of Oxford’s Said School of Business. The conference highlighted the challenges facing women in obtaining high level jobs.

During the conference, women leaders shared their experiences in multiple fields, pointing out to mechanisms for empowering women around the world as well as enhancing their inclusion in public life, Euro-Med Monitor added.

Euro-Med Monitor’s participation comes within the context of the organization’s work on women's issues and the defense of their rights. The conference aims to develop plans that will help women obtain fair opportunities in the practical and professional fields that will enable them to participate in all sectors equally with their fellow men.

Julia Muir, Chief Executive Officer of Gaia Innovation, spoke about the huge gap between women and men in the automotive industry, pointing out ways in which fair participation can be achieved for women in this sector, including eliminating dominant male prejudices and enhancing women's roles in this area.

Muir called on women to strive to reach their goals, seize opportunities and take the initiative to create opportunities for themselves.

“The potential of women must be invested in the service of their communities, especially in developing countries,” said Audrey Ferdinand, Euro-Med Monitor’s representative.

“Women in developing countries need real efforts to improve their difficult situation by implementing awareness programs on their various rights, as well as supporting them to carry out pioneering initiatives in which they can have equal opportunities with men to prove their important role in building their communities' economies,” Ferdinand added.

Ferdinand pointed to the need to empower women around the world to achieve fair and equal opportunities with men in practical fields. Their active participation has accelerated progress in different societies, added Ferdinand, stressing the need to encourage women to seek high-quality jobs commensurate with their competence.

The Conference concluded that women faced significant challenges in many sectors, where women held lower positions compared to men, but that gap could be eliminated in the event of equal opportunities for both sexes.
