The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med Monitor) celebrated its 8th anniversary in November! Since our founding in 2011, we've remained committed to our core principles of; expanding our youth-led team, engaging marginalised groups in setting our priorities, maintaining our independence by refusing funding from governments or political agencies. Professor Richard Falk, the Chairman of our Board of Trustees and former UN rapporteur on Human Rights in the oPts, praised our team for their continued efforts in a recorded message, where he expressed his hope that "the challenges to human rights will diminish as the commitment to their protection increases |

Euro-Med Monitor’s monthly report on Israeli violations against Palestinians shows a serious increase in incidents. In October, 474 violations were recorded compared to 376 in September. |

Iraq |
|
Euro-Med Monitor launched a wide campaign to advocate the rights of Iraqi protesters; including corresponding with the EU and the French and German governments to urge them to exert pressure on the Iraqi government. |

Jordan |
|
Euro-Med Monitor and the Human Rights Centre at the Middle East University in Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding. Joint activities will be launched to raise awareness on human rights and relevant international mechanisms among Jordanian youth. |

Israel/palestinian territories |
|
Euro-Med Monitor campaigned for the release of 2 Jordanian who were detained by Israel in appalling conditions without charges. Euro-Med Monitor sent letters to the UN and parliamentary groups at the European Union to call for their intervention to the release of the two detainees. |

A confidential UN investigation reportedly found that a deadly attack on a migrant detention centre in Libya was carried out by a fighter plane of a foreign country. We called on the UNSC to take all necessary measures to ensure that those involved in the attack are prosecuted. |

Gaza under attack |

Military operations escalated in the Gaza Strip on 12 November following an Israeli raid in which an Islamic Jihad commander was killed. Israeli air strikes followed, 34 Palestinians were killed, including 8 children, and 109 were injured. |
